Skin Care Routines for Acne Problems

Acne represent a huge problem to teenagers. Teenagers who suffer acne feel isolated, ugly, and insecure. In a world where only clear skinned people are put on the pedestal, that's not a strange feeling.
Surely no acne product out in the market has worked for your problem. At this point, you feel that your social life is doomed but fear not because with the proper actions, acne won't stay forever.
First step to take is to understand what acne really is and from there you can take the required actions in alleviating or at least minimizing your acne condition.
Acne is the term for clogged pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and deeper lumps (nodules) that appear in the back, neck, chest, face and upper arms. Acne is produced by accumulation of excess oil and dead skin in a pore. The causes of this are clogged skin, natural hormones and bacteria.
The onset of acne occurs between the ages of 12 to 17. Almost all teenagers had acne. Many of them applied non-prescription treatments to alleviate acne and recover their healthy skin, but severe acne cases are observed in more than 40% of teenagers in their mid-teens. Usually, it disappears in the early twenties. Then again, there are many cases wherein acne starts or continues into adulthood.
It has been observed that young men who are more likely to suffer severe acne, don't consult dermatologists as much as young women do. But then again, young women are more likely to have skin health problems and irregular acne due to hormonal changes during menstrual cycle or due to the cosmetic products they use. This kind of acne may afflict women even into adulthood.
The ultimate question now is how do you minimize acne?
Knowing the facts that debunk the misconceptions and myths about acne can help you solve your acne skin condition.
There's a myth saying that acne is caused by poor hygiene. This may be true if you don't wash your face at all. But if you resort to frequent and vigorous washing, it will definitely worsen acne, as it causes scarring. The best approach is to gently wash your face twice a day with a mild soap to take care of your skin. Diet has also an important role, as you must maintain an adequate skin nutrition.
You don't just have to let acne run its course. The truth is using acne products available in the market today can clear up your acne. If they don't work for you, then try seeing a dermatologist.
